Rescuing the Civilians | Luke
Essentially, he was attempting to guide everyone in the direction of the cleared path that had been created. So, at another point, he was using the illusions to direct the crowd, as well.
Fighting the monsters and focusing on saving people, however, was an exhausting task. He wasn't going to be stopping on his own, any time soon. He would push himself to the brinks of exhaustion if that was what it took to save the people. If anyone asked, he'd claim he was more than fine - and, at the moment, he was fine to keep going.
Rescuing the Civilians | Luke
The flash of briliant, flaming red hair on the field was far from anything that he had expected. Without second thought, he rushed to his young friend's side.
"Luke!" He exclaimed, grinning despite the circumstances. "You couldn't keep yourself away if you tried, could you?"
*ninjas this thread*
Nodding silently in return, Gaara rose to his feet, and resumed his search for Luke. They had gotten separated when their attentions were divided, based on the need of the people surrounding them. Upon spotting that familiar head of red hair, he walked toward him… but then stopped, midway. A blond man was approaching him – whom Gaara recognized as Guy Cecil, based on his memories of the facility. Luke’s best friend, from his home world.
Hesitating briefly, he wondered if he should allow them to focus on rescuing the civilians… He wasn’t physically strong, like Luke, with the ability to carry them away from danger. And in all honesty, Gaara never did like intruding. He started to turn away, redirecting his attention to someone else that might need healing. But before he would leave, he stood there and silently cast a Protect spell on both Luke and Guy, staff pointed in their direction. He wanted them to remain safe, after all.
WHERE U THINK UR GOIN
Simple as that.
It was in that moment, he found himself blinking at the familiar warmth; immediately, he was glancing around. His brow tensed as he saw a certain someone starting to walk away. Without so much as hesitating, he gave a quick: "Sorry...Hang on a second-!"
As he ran over to his boyfriend to grab his hand as a means of stopping him from leaving. Panting very, very softly, he gave the other redhead a curious look. Everyone in that particular area was gone, so he had begrudgingly decided to take a moment to breath. It wasn't something he...was happy to admit, but he did need a break. So, why not use the break to do something he'd been meaning to for a while?
Without hesitation, he was tugging the ninja over to Guy, "I'm sure you know this already, but... I want to introduce you to him," he gave the faintest, tired-looking grin, "Please?"
bahahahahah~~~
The break was more than welcome. He watched Luke dart toward the other redhead, and watched him drag the other over with a bemused grin. Luke had matured...but, somethings never really did change.
"Who's this?" he asked when the two of them approached. The other man was a white mage, he could tell from the clothes, but that was all he could discern at that moment.
Luke, you spoiled brat :c sigh 9-year-olds...
Gaara didn’t protest being dragged over, although his brows did crease with disapproval at one specific aspect.
“Luke. You are straining yourself past your limits,” he hissed at him, tense grip tightening on his staff. If they weren’t in a public setting, he would consider using force to make Luke stand down and take a damn rest. It was similar to the day that they both woke up from the crystallized state, and Luke insisted on doing everything but allowing his body and mind to recover.
At that prompting, Gaara lifted his gaze toward the blond, and made sure to maintain a neutral expression. He had to… pretend that he didn’t know Guy. Time to put those prime ninja acting skills to good use.
“You must be Guy,” he identified in a quiet tone, and then attempted to explain, “Luke has spoken very highly of you.”
Because that would be more believable than telling Guy the true story. This version of Guy wouldn’t remember him from the facility, just as Luke hadn’t.
......... Gaara plz
In any case, his expression turned incredibly sheepish at those stern words. Awkwardly, he glanced to the side and scratched the side of his head. Then, he offered the ninja a reassuring smile, "I'm fine...right now. I'm taking a break now, right? I promise not to do anything too reckless... If it gets to be too much, I'll let you know. Sound fair?"
To Guy's question, he started to open his mouth - the other redhead responded next, however. A very faint blush appeared at those words. It was nothing more than the awkwardness of having that kind of thing simply put out there. It gave an indication of just how much he talked about everyone from home. Which was...a lot. Then, he cleared his throat and spoke up, "This is Gaara."
Which should have told Guy quite a bit, all in one go; that he was the person Luke had met back in Saeng Seong. The ninja was the one who'd given him that throwing knife, when he'd arrived in that place completely unarmed. He'd helped him through countless nightmares...and, more importantly, was the only person to directly follow him into a new world. Towards the end, he also went on to explain that he'd been the one to ask Gaara to be his boyfriend not very long after arriving in Crystallis.
The replica had gone on for quite some time, telling Guy all of those things- it was the first time he'd ever been able to tell anyone about it, though. Guy was his best friend, too, so he felt more comfortable telling him those things than anyone else.
redheads. they're all the same.
Those words and that expression had given Guy more than enough information to know how to properly manage these interactions.
Sheathing his blade, he crossed the distance between the two of them and held out a gloved hand in greeting.
"Luke has likewise spoken highly of you," he said in his usual friendly tones. "Travelling between worlds like that must have been quite the adventure. It had to have been more than just luck that kept the two of you together though it all."
you're next, blondie :v
"Hmph..." he grunted in response, still feeling concerned about his reckless boyfriend. It hadn't been that long since they were released from crystal status, and Luke was already throwing himself into arduous situations. He was probably trying hard to distract himself, given what they had discussed most recently. "I will hold you to that claim."
Shaking hands was a more universal form of greeting, and fortunately, Gaara was familiar with it. He had actually been wondering which gesture he should use for Guy, in light of who he was, and his level of importance to Luke. Fingers still intertwined with the other redhead, he stepped forward and offered his free hand to Guy, shaking it firmly.
"It was an unexpected challenge," he admitted in a somewhat dry tone, "but Luke has dealt with each situation admirably." A brief pause, and then, "Perhaps our hearts remained connected, throughout the travels."
He casually moved on, clearly not understanding the significance of what he just said. "How are you adjusting to this world?"
pfft you guys
lol~

HI THAR.
There was sharp look in her eyes as she landed not too far from him and smile, the icy disposition vanished completely, "I hope you don't mind me giving you a hand young man."
She chimed, as she brightly smiled towards him, "Seems like this place got busy with a lot of unwanted guests huh?"
Of course, she was carefree as ever. Seriousness was just not her style to be honest. Selen wasn't the type to remain serious for long. She was enjoying the thrill, though maintaining a good ground to protect citizens and such. Selen was also in the area looking for her favourite son and one of the few things he would do was rescue people. Go figure right?
SUP
The redhead blinked at the young woman. As soon as there was a moment where he could pause in his hacking up monsters, he offered her a returned smile. She reminded him just a little of Anise, with the carefree nature within all the mayhem. The smile turned just a bit fond at that, before he was glancing to the side to conceal the nostalgia. There was just the hint of a wry smirk as he responded to her initial words, "Heh... I don't mind at all! I appreciate the help."
To the second thing she said, he was giving a quiet laugh, "I'll say... It's like they don't know when to quit! Guess someone needs to teach them a lesson."
In that moment, he had to pause in talking to take out a few more monsters. Fortunately, they were easy kills. With that, he flashed her a brief grin; he figured it was as good a time as any for introductions, "I'm Luke, by the way."
NOTHING MUCH YOU?
Selen was having too much fun taking down the monsters that it was almost eerie how well she was disciplined in the art of slaughtering monsters cleanly. All the woman did was move swiftly back and forth slashing through them like paper. It was as if it was effortless for her to do such a thing.
She grinned even more at his cheerful attitude as well.
"You're quite welcome. It seems like these nasties need to be a taught a lesson or two on not attacking innocent civilians."
She retorted as she continued to dice her way with him through the mess, "That's what we're here for isn't it?"
Selen shifted herself a bit as she ran a hand through her hair with a brief pause after the slaughter.
"Selen. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Luke. You're quite the swordsman."
SAME OL SAME OL
He walked over, during the pause, holding out a hand to shake it. It was a habit he'd picked up, while in Saeng Seong. So far, it hadn't been poorly received, "It's nice to meet you, Selen."
Her compliment, though, had him blinking. A hint of sheepishness appeared as he shook his grinned, "Heh...thanks! Though, it's looking like I've got nothing on you! I'm going to assume this isn't the first world you've used a sword."
XD ah I SHEEEEE fffff <3
The former General, shook his hand firmly as he offered it to her. She had quite the grip if he noticed.
"Good to meet an energetic boy like yourself, Luke. We need more of those around," she chuckled a bit. She not that new to this place, so knowing people like him seemed rare to her. She was the type to praise what she saw was good. That's the nature of Selen.
"Yes, well we can't really compare our swordsmanship. You're still quite young, and of course. I was General in my world and I've been doing this since I could remember. It's a different atmosphere from a traveling swordsman. You're not that bad. You could use a few tips but you're pretty tough, but you are still young, so you can catch up in no time!"
Just like how Darres was a phenomenal swordsman.
She replied shrugging. Of course if Luke knew her age...
lawl ilu you silly <3
"Heh, I... guess liking to fight monsters isn't something that ever left me."
Oh, that's impressive. She was in the military, then? That would definitely explain it. She...didn't seem that old, though. Something about those words reminded him a bit of Jade, now that he thought about it. Those two would probably get along...
"Tips, huh? Think you could give me a few?" Well, it never hurts to ask.
hahahaahaaha love you too :D
"Monsters are quite easy to take care of if you detach from the fact that they're living beings. It's the same for when you have to protect yourself against other human beings, but that's a bit harder since you have to actually not be afraid to do it," she chimed. Selen slaughtered many people in her time. It's not surprising she wold say that.
Military is a good word for it. She was a former Knight General. She ran the knights like nobody's business. No, but she was, and he would be surprised if he knew. Yes, he was right on that too. If she were ever to meet his Jade person, she would fit right in.
"Well, you're a bit rough around the edges with movement. Agility is one of the keys in swift killing. It takes less time and you don't exhaust yourself. Plus, if you move fast enough, you don't have to slash the monsters with all your strength."
Selen's such a cutie;;;
Nodding to the words, he didn't seem too fazed by the first part, "Yeah... I don't have any problem killing those," he started with a soft and wry smile; people were a different story, "...Yeah. I used to struggle with hurting other people. It took a while to be able to fight them without fear."
Currently, he was able to take the lives of other people, without much hesitation; it required the situation to be dire. Selen definitely sounded a lot like a certain few he knew, from back home... He would not be surprised at her fitting right in with any of them, especially Jade.
"Agility... I've been working on that, actually. I just...can't really seem to get the hang of it. My friend, Guy's, better with that sort of thing, back home. Though, I do think my current Job Class might be helping some... I guess I just need to stop thinking like I did, back on Auldrant." He let out a soft chuckle.
The best cutie. You better love her XDDD

Re: Rescuing the Civilians | Luke
She was running along the rooftops when she saw Luke making his way along. Noting his fatigue he kept pace with him from above, keeping a watchful eye on him. It paid off when she saw an Imperial trying to take advantage of his condition as well. The man only managed to raise his sword though before the pirate crashed down on top of him, sinking her hidden blade into his neck and drove him to the ground.
no subject
His eyes widened as he spun around to find the Imperial dropping. There was a moment where he was simply looking from the dead man to the person who just rescued him. Green eyes were widened, in shock. For starters, he could be dead in that moment. From the looks of things, he'd come scarily close. But, then, his expression finally softened.
"You...saved me," he offered them a faint, but clearly grateful smile, "Thank you."
He already had issues surrounding death- in fact, a fairly long list could be made. While a series of events had managed to mold and shape him, brushes with death managed to trigger certain feelings and memories. So, it took him a moment to steady his breaths and wait for his heart to slow down. He...needed to be less careless.
"By the way, my name's Luke."
no subject
"James Kidd. Good to meet you, Luke. Are you alright?" And just like that there was some lighter emotion on her face. A little worry. A little happiness. Genuine but still masking the cold killer beneath the surface.
no subject
Noting the worry, his own expression softened just for a moment. As did his smile, "It's nice to meet you, too, James. I'm fine... Still a little shaken up, but... I should have been paying closer attention. Guess I should take a break, so that doesn't happen again..."
A sheepish expression ghosted over his face, and then he was glancing around - first, to make sure no other enemies were around... Secondly, it was for a place to sit. Once he found it, he walked over. Fortunately, it didn't appear any enemies were around.
no subject
"What were you doing out here on your own?" She gathered he was out here to try to help the people of this city, but the fact that he was fighting by himself was the greater concern. However the question as she asks it is devoid of any scolding he might have gotten from Tear or the others, but rather a question asking after his wellbeing.
no subject
That question had him offering a sheepish look, before he was releasing a soft sigh.
"Well, I wasn't by myself, originally. I just left to check out a new area, while they took care of the area we were in. I'm supposed to be meeting someone, later, too. It was... pretty stupid of me to stay by myself, being as tired as I am," he started, before his tone became firmer with the next words, "But... there isn't time to rest right now."
no subject
She understood his worry though. There were so many people in danger and the desire to want to save them all was admirable. The sad truth was that it wasn't possible. She never wanted to consider any innocent "expendable", but one's own life took precedent in a mass crisis like this.
"Where did the others you were with head off to?"
no subject
"You're right... Trust me, it won't happen, again. I guess I just... forgot. Maybe it's partially thanks to the world I arrived on, after vanishing from Auldrant. It had been... pretty much every person for themselves, there. Whenever you lingered somewhere too long, you...endangered your life, even more. So it was either push yourself to your limit and possibly... die, or... up your chances of being killed."
Why he just said that, he wasn't entirely sure. Either way, his expression was darkening just a bit, before he looked away. He decided to just move on to that question, before too many questions could be asked, "They headed in that direction, but I'm supposed to be meeting Gaara in an area over there."
He was pointing to his right.
