[A: Chocobo Farm]
[Just for something to do, Kaiji had headed down to the chocobo farm in order to get one of his own. It all seemed a bit ridiculous to him, but he figured it couldn't be much different than getting a horse, right? Except you generally didn't have to catch your own horse. And he's never even been on a horse. So maybe this comparison wasn't any good.
He was going to give it a shot anyway. Out in the forest with some delicious greens to lure one out, the often unlucky Kaiji Ito actually beats the odds today, and he comes across a beautiful aqua-colored chocobo grazing alone. For a moment the bird thinks about running, but it gets a good look at Kaiji and that snack he's holding, and something in it clicks. It approaches to grab the food, and then merrily warks up a storm to greet its new friend. Kaiji is impressed that this actually worked, and so easily. As he tries to lead it back to the farm, the bird becomes completely enamored with him, and he has a hard time getting it to listen. Anyone in the forest might stumble across the poor guy trying to convince the chocobo to come along, but it's more interested in lovingly preening his long hair and cuddling his head.]
H-Hey, come on! Don't-- Just-- Let's go already, okay?

[B: Aqures Ixen, 13th District]
[Later, near sunset, Kaiji is once again wandering around the town aimlessly, with his hands in his pockets and a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He looks listless and lost as he comes across the Thirteenth District and its huge statute dedicated to the original Heroes of Light. He huffs in frustration, not feeling anything close to what these people represent. Kaiji Ito, Hero? What a load.
He walks over a nearby fountain, and takes out one of his few remaining coins. He flips it in, and mumbles his wish out loud. He doesn't think anyone is around to hear him, but he's probably wrong about that.]
I wish I knew why the hell what someone like me was supposed to do here.
