Summary: The long-awaited meeting with Palitutu! This post will be updated as things evolve and will lead into the main event for the second Anniversary, Revelations. According to the predictions of a certain Heroes of Light, Ultima WEAPON shall be fought during the meeting, better be prepared. Trying to avoid the meeting is a bad idea, as Palitutu mentioned she will use that very WEAPON to destroy Aqures Ixen if the Heroes feel cowardly.

[Tazendra had elected to fight the Ultima WEAPON rather than Palitutu, even if it was as a distraction so that the technical people can try to seize control. As a result, she'd been listening with half an ear and watching to see its approach.]

I do not see it yet.

[Perhaps she should have equipped a more effective mix of Jobs for fighting mecha, but she was determined that no one would remove her ability to perform her skills after last year with Kalki, so Crystal Knight it was.]

[ Sheena's idea falls more into the "defend" category, which means she's not going to attack unless ULTIMA attacks first. And an idea occurs to her.

What if the choice is to not attack first, and prove they aren't the barbarians Garland thinks they are? Not surrender, but refuse to cast the first stone? Because seriously? Them against a WEAPON? Possible, but at what cost?

If only she could read minds, then she'd be able to know for sure. Still, she maintains her stance, glancing at Tazendra. ]

This rain isn't helping. Maybe it'll slip in some mud and fall.

BOSS BATTLE: Ultima WEAPON
A mechanical weapon created by the Ancients to fight the Calamity from the Skies and the Heroes of Light. While it is equipped with an onboard AI, its actions are directly controlled by Palitutu, and to a lesser extent by Deweg and Artemicion. Legends claim the Heroes of Light sealed away the Calamity before Ultima Weapon could be used, therefore nobody knows what its true potential is. However it is known to have defeated the Imperial Fleet and destroyed the Sixth District during the battle of Aqures Ixen. The massive WEAPON is made of mechanical and biological components in equal parts.

[ As expected, the WEAPON was quick to attack once it appeared. What might be slightly unexpected however, was that the WEAPON was able to launch three attacks at once, thanks to its size and those accompanying Palitutu. ]

[The WEAPON’s left side arm casts a Magitek Ray at Chiaki’s robot, which might deal significant damage should she fail to avoid it.]

[The WEAPON’s right arm side launches missiles at Cloud’s Magitek Armor, which might deal mid damage should he fail to avoid them.]

[The core of the WEAPON attacks the Heroes of Light standing in the vicinity before them with a powerful beam aimed to the ground and exploding upon hitting it—The Heroes have a five seconds warning upon seeing the core glow to get out of there.]

[Ales had spent the entire meeting wishing he could speak up. Palitutu's words had merit to them. Why should she trust them if every Hero had failed in the past? Of course, destroying the world herself was an unreasonable solution, but Palitutu was right in that telling this batch of Heroes about the truth from the start wouldn't change anything. Kalki was the reason things went differently. She did what she thought was reasonable.

But he couldn’t be seen, else his plan to sneak over to the Ultima WEAPON would be foiled. To add to that, he doesn’t trust the majority of the Heroes to treat his philosophies with respect seeing how many of them antagonized Palitutu. Not sorry? Sorry for what? If she lives, he has to talk to her.

Despite the sympathy, there was the WEAPON to deal with. Standing near the back of the group, Ales runs back to wait for the beam attack to pass, tugs the edge of the cloak’s hood, and dashes through the crowd of Heroes, avoiding their legs with deft dexterity. If he had his Thief Job equipped, he would be able to run over there faster, but hacking into it is his priority.

His goal is to hitch a ride on one of the giant mechas that were brought to the fight, but if the other forces provide enough distraction, he will run across the plains to the WEAPON himself.]

"RULES OF NATUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURE!"

There are three things you should know about Deadpool:

1) He's an idiot.
2) He's unpredictable.
3) He's... a bit on the cunning side.

You see, he could go in charging at the Ultima WEAPON, ready to use his Cyber Ninja's Slicer skill in a ridiculous attempt to cut the Ultima Beam in half to save everyone (because nothing says lasers can't be cut with this)...

...OOOOOOOOOOOOOOR, Deadpool can use his Ninja job's Clone ability to create a clone (shudder) to charge at the Ultima Weapon to use the Slicer skill to cut the Ultima Beam while Deadpool runs off and around in an attempt to get behind it.

[The second Palitutu and her cohorts disappear, Jade follows suit with Vanish, reappearing a decent distance away from their original meeting spot. If any of the others die, he can bring them back.

Thank heavens someone had the foresight to cast Haste on him -- this lets him act much faster. As the WEAPON launches its attacks, Jade hurriedly casts Haste on Chiaki's mecha, then on Cloud's Magitek Armor.]

[Cloud only spares himself a moment of shock as the Ultima Weapon finally makes its appearance, and when it begins to move so does he. He's already trying to move to a better tactical position when those missiles begin to fire, and as the systems in his armor begin to warn him of it he pushes the pedal down to escape them. It seems close until Jade's haste spell gives him the boost he needs. The metal feet tromp doubletime, the missiles landing behind him in a glorious display fit for an action movie.

When the explosions stop, Cloud turns about. He has many skills available to him right now thanks to the Onion Knight job he has equipped, but right now he wants to make use of the armor he's finally riding.]

This took me so long to get, time to cut loose. Thanks for the gift, Palitutu. Magitek Laser!

[He throws down a lever and pulls the trigger on the attack panel. The maw at the front of the armor opens, charging up energies and then firing a pale blue beam at the greater construct before him.]

Shit.

[Reno figured this was coming, even with the best laid plans. At least now it would appear to be a test of their mettle rather than an outright slaughter -- if they lived, of course. The familiar sound of the Ultima Beam charging up was recognized immediately and Reno disappeared with a Smoke Bomb out of range.]

Cloud -- !

[He was relieved to see the attack missed and nodded back at Jade for his help. Then the gloves came off. Preparing Ninjutsu, he leveled a Thundara at all three offending targets.]

[ Well, so much for slipping in the mud.

Hearing the charging of the Beam, Sheena grabs whoever is closest and pulls them back out of the way before casting Smoke Bomb and teleporting towards the front to cast Clone and split up.

Both versions of herself pull out Guardian Seal--a handy little seal that creates a barrier, reducing both physical and magical damage by a significant amount. But that's not the only Seal they use. This time, they focus on the WEAPON, using their mana to direct a Power Seal Absolute--guaranteed to lower WEAPON's defenses--from two sides to help with the others' attacks. With Jade's help, the amount it's lowered has increased to 20%, but if it's each has yet to be seen. ]

[Tsubomi yelped as she made Hana race away from the energy beam. She had to think of what to do next - there were so many things, though, that didn't make sense - why did Palitutu and the others run off? They could have changed the course of the fight... Unless...

Her eyes went wide.]

Everyone, keep away from the Ultima WEAPON! I think Palitutu's piloting it! If she does know everything about our lives, then she knows everything about our enemies' lives, too! She's probably fused with it! There's no way she would just up and disappear!

[And if that was it, then she wasn't going to hang back on the weak stuff - thanks to her Onion Knight job having her Red Mage's Dualcast, she made her first strike...]

CHOCO METEOR! CHOCO METEOR!

[A little on the draining side, but the WEAPON would be facing two meteors falling to the ground.]

Fine. You want emotional? I'll give you emotional!

[Sparks has had Quite Enough of that "emotionally unavailable" label, especially coming from someone like Palitutu. The marshal charges, letting out a barrage of Magitek Missiles at the three. Deweg and Artimicion weren't going to get away unscathed, for he could help it. It probably would have been better if he used some buff spells first, but it's too late now. Maybe someone else could help him out.]

[ The memories from a year ago come rushing back with a vengeance. The bitter taste of betrayal and his own helplessness in the face of their immense failure - regardless of whether Palitutu deemed them worthy or not, a lesson has been learnt. Although their methods vary between one another, today they stand strong, stronger than ever before.

There's no thick layer of armour to protect him from injuries if things get out of hand - a mage through and through, Ace knows he needs to make each of his spells count. And since he's had plenty of time to prepare during the wait, he readies an Ultima once he ensures that there's no Heroes in close vicinity. Its main destination is the Weapon's core. ]

[Johnny had kept quiet during the meeting, letting the people who knew what they were talking about handle the situation. Like most, he figured it would come down to a fight, and he was ready for it. Casting Spirit Surge on himself before things started, he attempted to Jump out of the Weapon's beam. He aimed his lance at Palitutu, planning to hit her when he came down.]

Mary was ready for this. She expected things to go south and she had no reason to doubt the vision of the Ultima Weapon being brought against them. As it came down to meet them she brought her fingers to her lips, whistling loud and clear.

A small airship came flying into the battlefield, piloted by one of her guild Assassins. If this were a normal person or monster they were fighting she might have gone into this as an Assassin, but knowing they were going to be fighting this thing, it was time for some ship to ship combat.

Leaping into the air she grabs hold of a rope ladder thrown from the deck, looking out at the others as she starts to climb.]

If you don't want to get caught underfoot, get on board!

[That rumbling could only mean one thing. As Sephiroth ran back to the troops waiting for orders, Albel moved forward.]

Syrreth!

[With a roar, the large dragon took form, answering its master's call. For better or worse, Albel was less focused on what Heroes were in the way. He was locked on to Ultima Weapon.]

Now -- Black Meteo!

[She'd studied WEAPONs in her own world for a living, but coming up against one in the flesh so to speak was definitely a new experience. Thus casting Mad Scientist on herself and racing away from the initial meeting place. Took a bit of effort for the scholar, but as she cleared it, she pulled out her tome.]

Knew I should've...gotten out more.

[Without so much as a moment to catch her breath after running from the blast, she casts Libra on the Ultima WEAPON's right side as she grabs the rope ladder tossed down from the airship and climbs.]

[Barkeep runs as fast as he can when he sees the core glow. Being an old man wearing the Sage's many robes, he slips on the mud just as it fires and topples over, feeling the ground shaking near him as he struggles to get back on his feet. He's not injured, but the small earthquake got even more mud all over him.]

Oh, for the love of--

[You go all Leeroy Jenkins on that giant robot, Sparks. Barkeep has more important spells in his arsenal that must be used before the Ultima WEAPON gets to close. Leaving the protection of the Marshall to the other healers and buffers on the team, he stands up in the same spot he fell and focuses his energy on casting Meteor on the WEAPON, targeting the arms and core. It will take a lot out of him, but the fight has to end as soon as possible.]

[Saori may have not said anything, but she stuck around during the talk. She had a feeling things were going to south sooner or later. Once the WEAPON came around, she only gave it one look back before running to where the airship was. She couldn't say she was surprised Sparks opted for a direct approach after Palitutu's scathing words. As much as she would've yanked him out of there but there was work to be done. ]

No need to tell me twice!

[Once inside the airship, she took up arms inside. ]

[Ruby yelped as she was met with the blast before her. In response, she ended up using her Jump ability to take to the sky before dropping down, activating her Galactic Knight's energy blade and slashing at the WEAPON's left arm.]

[Selphie was quick to begin and even then, she barely managed to get back to a safe distance. She didn't like the notion of showing her back to the enemy but really had no choice. She skids to a halt and prepares a Thundara aimed at the core of the WEAPON. If she could help to slow that down then maybe there was a chance of winning.]

You're goin' down, Lady!

[Thankfully Sephiroth was already well back from the space they had conversed with Palitutu by the time the Magitek Ray tore up the muddy earth behind him. Perhaps it was down to the heightened perception but he could have sworn he felt the rush of heat at his back. No time to check if he'd gotten any singed hair, though-

He dug boots in deeper to the mud as the troops around and behind him opened fire with an array of assorted magic attacks, while the front line of warrior-types stepped up with their swords. There was a definite sense, though, of reasonable anxiety; just how were ground troops supposed to engage something this damn huge!

First things first, ShinRa Guard was cast over himself, perhaps selfishly but there were healer-type soldiers behind who would do their best to keep the other soldiers protected and/or healed up. He certainly couldn't afford to spend this whole fight concerning himself with his troops - they all knew the risks just as well as he did.

As Kidd's airship swooped low, Sephiroth made a leap for the rope ladder and hauled his right-side up against the one side. Others would be able to ascend passed him but Sephiroth in the meantime was eyeing up the closest arm to their position.]

Take us up! Get above it!

[In the meantime, he conjured Deathblow; Masamune and most of his left arm holding started to generate a wavy field, not quite colored but the gathered energy there waiting for the next -first- attack to be executed.]

[ Sheena's going to stay on the ground for the time being, since she and her clone can direct their Seals wherever they need them.

With WEAPON's defense hopefully diminished, Sheena moves on to the next step. This time, she aims for the arms--not with the same seal as before, but with a Mirage Seal Absolute for each one. It has the same percentage effect as the other Seal, but this time, will take down the WEAPON's accuracy. ]

Guys! Keep an eye out! This is supposed to throw its aim off, but people may still get hit!

Usami Z, engage!

[Chiaki's voice rings out across the battlefield amid all the various attacks being thrown around. It's the loudest anyone's ever heard her, thanks to her mech's amplifiers.]

Love Beam!

[The robot - looking for all the world like a metallic rabbit-themed magical girl - raises the staff in its hands. And through a combination of specially tinted and expertly crafted lenses, a pink heart-shaped beam of light erupts forth. It's definitely reminiscent of the standard magical girl attack repertoire, but make no mistake, that beam is 100% fire elemental.]

[ Tear may have kept her silence all throughout the meeting, but she could hold it no more. Now that Palitutu had cast her judgement, the time had come for her to share her voice with the other Heroes yet again. This time she wasn't serenading them into a long slumber they had no control over, as she had a year ago.

What she sings instead is Boss Theme, wanting to reach as any of her allies as possible. It wasn't a peaceful lullaby, but a resounding melody encouraging all who heard it to press forward with more vigor, granting them much-needed boosts.

Once cast, she makes use of the Dualcast ability immediately, closing her eyes to continue with Troubadour. The melodist would join the fight and defend soon enough, but right now she had to make sure to cast as much protection as possible. ]

Perhaps it wasn't the smartest of moves to some, but Vincent was quick and had job-skills to aid him, running towards the Weapon. Poofing with a smoke-bomb to just escape the range of the Ultima Beam.

So much for invisibility...

In any event, he managed to get slightly to the side of the Weapon, taking careful aim for his Charged-Shot at the Left Side. He'd be making every shot count if he could, with this one having more attack power.

Opting to stay on the ground for now, shunshin was activated. He could provide support and distraction, and take shots as needed for other heroes with stronger attacks. Should the worst happen, well...Vincent knew what his limit break was capable of.
